This is the time of year I
need a bit of a change...
No, not so much
the
scenery,
but a few changes around
the cottage...
I'm bored, and need
a bit of a pick me up!
I'm so sick tired of the
RAIN
DRIZZLE
&
GRAY SKIES,
Spring came, and
we really didn't notice
much of a change...
No Roar of a LION to be heard here!
I've been thinking about my
fireplace again.
It's so boring plain and
needs a face lift.
This is how my fireplace looks today,
the firebox will stay the same, it's
a propane insert, and I looove the
vintage piece in front, with the
iron and brass rail.
(the blue hearth will of course be painted)!

I've been
looking around and came
up with these beauties,
what do YOU think?
I know I have a few saved in my idea
folder, I'll dig those out too!

I really like this one, it still shows
brick around it, and adds
character.
I would like a bigger mantel though.

This fireplace has intrigued me for a long time.
I keep coming back to it...
I would add a wood detail where
the beautiful plaster detail is, if it was ours.

This one is kind of plain, but I still like it.
The one real difference, is that all of these
are floor hearths, and our home is from
the 60's and has the big slab out in front...:(

I would say any one of those mantles would do you proud. I don't think it will make much difference at all that yours has the slab in front of it. Most fireplaces from earlier years did. Even if you just added a nice big mantle top to your existing fireplace would make a great (read that -easy) change!
Our Spring never came-we are still waiting-although we finally have some green! Hugs- Diana
I think you should get a cup of tea and sit and think ~ what would I like to look at...You'll come up with something fabulous ;-) Can't wait to see
we must be neighbors! *winks* It's been non stop drizzle and yuck at my house.
I love all your inspiration fireplaces and I don't think your raised hearth will make any difference. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Vanna
Nice collection of inspiration mantles! Don't fret over the slab, just work around it to take the eye to what you want to be seen.
I've just become a friend and follower and would be delight for you to visit and perhaps consider same.
Just looking at your fireplace I think it's great!! If you wanted to, you could build a wooden surround(let the brick show through the opening in the front) then top it off with a board. Then the top of your mantle would hold lots of stuff!! You could tile the hearth too!! Just an idea!!!
This is beautiful! A lovely change to the fireplace..very creative :)

Love all your inspiration! I think it will look great with a mantel and maybe just a fresh coat of white, grout and all!
They're all so pretty my dear. You'll come up with something awesome, we all do, eventually! I have one too at Show and Tell Sat.!
You're welcome to come over, I'd love too. Have a great weekend. Hugs. FABBY
I've tried and tried to leave you all messages and finally one went through...only one though. :( I looove all your comments and feel terrible that I'm not able to leave you one! I hope blogger gets this worked out soon, it's so discouraging! I just want you to know I'm enjoying your blogs, even though, I can't leave you a message! I really appreciate all your encouragement and input about my fireplace, and your awesome ideas! Big hugs, Debbie~
Fun project! I like all the fireplaces in the inspiration photos.
Happy Pink Saturday!
I love all of those ideas! I just wish we had a fireplace! :) Can't wait to see what you decide.
Have a great weekend!

P.S. I'm following you now.
Oh I love all that white! You have lots of inspiration for your makeover, have fun with it!
Oh, I have a fireplace that I want to paint the mantle white. Your photos choices are great and offer me some perfect inspiration! My fireplace is tiled with Royal Blue in this house that I moved into two years ago, so consider yourself lucky that you have brick! Happy Pink Saturday! ~Marti
They are all so lovely - Country Living is great for charming inspiration. I agree with NanaDiana - adding a bigger mantel on top is a great idea.
Happy Pink Saturday to you. :O)
Hugs,
Marie
