My First Try at Making Roses for Cupcakes!

I've wanted to try this for sometime now. I looove cupcakes who
doesn't, right? But I've been afraid avoiding making roses,
(even though I have lots of my sweet
Grandma Stella's fool proof Wilton tips)...

so,

I finally got up the courage and tried some, I have a lot to learn
and need  much more practice for sure, but I took
them to work and the girls loooved them and my MacGiver
thought they were the BOMB, cutsie flowers and all!
I found the adorable cake plate while I was on Spring break,
at one of my fave thrift stores,
I looove the way the cupcakes look on it!
I'm sure I'll be practicing a lot more, I'm having
Bunco here next month and of course my theme
will be May Flowers!
I had so much fun I can hardly wait to
practice some more!

~so sweet~

~I was having so much fun~

~yep, those leaves need lots more practice~

~my MacGiver loooves when I say I need more practice~

~pink roses and white tulips~

~I looove my new cake plate and thrift store tablecloth~

I'm linking this to Faded Charm for White Wednesday

Well, I can't see how you need any more practice! How could they be any cuter? I love roses and those would be perfect for the tea I am doing in May. But how could I ever do that??

Jeannie B. if I can do them, so can YOU, really... I didn't have to thrown any away, they may not all looked alike, but they did look pretty much like a rose, the tips Wilton have make it easy and honestly, you can go to YouTube and watch how to make them and it's a breeze from there! I made a
buttercream icing to frost the cupcakes and then just mixed white shortening with powdered sugar with a teeny tiny bit of coloring for the roses! My biggest problem was letting the icing get too warm, so the roses look a little sloppier at the end. I also just used Parchment paper cut into triangles cut the tip off after I folded them and stuck my Wilton tip into that and filled the bag...easy peasy! :) Deb~

They look wonderful! You did a great job! My mom used to make cakes and always did a beautiful job but alas I did not receive the cake decorating gene :( Maybe one of my girls have it though! Thanks for stopping by, Theresa

Those are adorable cupcakes! I have never learned to decorate with icing. I went as far as buying the pastry bag and tips, but have not used them yet. Your post has inspired me to give it a try. Your roses are beautiful!!
