Living Small, Alas my Humble Cozy Cottage!

I know I've told you I live in a very small home, it's
been a challenge most of the time, for a couple of reason's.
One, we don't have a garage, who in their right minds can
live without a garage or huge barn for that matter??! Not
me, so it seems...

I loved having my small single garage as a
family room as my son grew up, it was nice to have him
and his friends out from under foot in our humble abode,

but...

I realize now, as time's gone on and my looove for
stuff has grown, it sure would be nice to have a garage
for storage and a work area for painting projects during
the winter etc. Our dining table has been totally covered
at various times throughout the years with many Christmas
projects being sanded, painted and not to mention
my MacGivers hunting projects, like repainting duck decoys
because they didn't look enough like the real thing, or
cutting his venison...no kidding!

Our humble cottage is small, but it is 'Home Sweet Home',
and really, there is 'No Place Like Home' is there?

I yearn for the clean, uncluttered look and freedom it offers, but
I'm not there yet, I'm working towards that clean white dream!

I work hard finding creative storage space,

OR...

in truth, are they really CrEaTiVe HiDiNg SpAcEs?!

So why am I sharing all of this with you my dear blogger friends?
Because I do want to share, really I do, but
I'm having a hard time because my
humble little cottage is not perfect,
not even near perfect, but after talking
to some of you, I understand I'm not the
only one, who worries about sharing their space because
they're still a work in progress...

So,

Even though it's not the way I want it to be,
it's my unique space and it's still under going it's
metamorphosis and in time, will be
my perfect little cottage.
to me anyway...

I've been putting off showing you my chandelier
because of my unsightly 80's shelves that line
my dining room, but I've decided after so many
of you told me to go ahead and reveal
the stinking truth outdated shelves, to 'just do it'!

Your home is beautiful. I think you are too critical of yourself. It looks gorgeous. Thanks for showing us a part of your world. I found myself a corner shelf recently, but am yet to paint it. On my to do list.

Its lovely and so sweet! We should have a contest who has the Smallest House! I don't even have a room to put a dining table in :-( Don't even have a garage converted into another room :-(. Storage in little homes really is major problems.

You're too funny. I was so drooling over the chandy I didn't notice anything else until you pointed it out. I love that corner cabinet, too.

Your home is lovely- I think we all have projects that need done and if I waited till everything was just the way I wanted I wouldn't have a post up yet!! It is fun seeing the transformation over the months and years on different blogs and it will be the same for us for your projects! I am wondering if you could tape off the glass and spray paint the slider door for now? Might be a cheap temporary fix.. I have seen on several blogs where they put up plastic around a hanging light and just spray paint it in place- maybe the same kind of idea for the door.

Your chandy is so pretty- there is nothing prettier than sparklies to beautiful a room!!

The chandelier is great!!! I know what you mean about small, I live in a house with 6 rooms! Yeah that's it with 2 growing girls. No garage but outbuildings. I sympathize! Your room is very pretty!

Hi Debbie.

I can certainly relate! We live in a small home also, infact my kitchen is no bigger than some folks closets but I too love my humble abode and just learn to make do. Your home looks so cute and cozy. I will be back for more visiting!

Hi Debbie~ ~
This is my first time here and I came over from Cindys RH. You know, if you talked to any of us bloggers I bet you would find that all of us think our homes are a work-in-progress. Even the homes that look perfect to me and you. There is always just another thing to do to make it better. I don't think mine will ever be done.

Your place is really sweet. Mine is not that big either but it's cozy and we love it. You talked about loving white but hating your shelfing above in the diningroom. Why not choose a shade of white that you love and paint the whole room white shelves, brackets, door trim and all. It would be a showpiece for just the price of a couple gallons of paint. The shelves would look so cute filled with china and doo dads. You could even paint the dark trim around the slider white. Just a few thoughts I love taking a negative and making it a positive.
Stop over for a visit. It's nice to meet you.

It all looks beautiful! I finally got a white sliding door. I lived with an old dirty aluminum one for years! I think for most of us there are lots of things we want to change! Your chandelier looks beautiful! I remember when I first put mine up, I admired it every time I walked by!

Your home is beautiful! That chandy is incredibly gorgeous and I love your corner shelf with all the beautiful white treasures on it. I don't even have my cottage yet, and I'm looking for a small one as I don't like large places. I also love your blog and am going to sign up as a follower. ♥
