Something New...No, I Just Painted it WHITE!

Not too long ago, I wanted a new(to me)

vintage cupboard, for my dining room!

Something

pretty and WHITE, 

(of course)

 to hold all my (new thrift) China...

Funny how sometimes it's hard

to see past something

right in front of you!

This cupboard is very small,

(perfect for my small dining room)

I know it's probably out of

some sweet English or French

kitchen.

I've had it for years, it was hiding

behind all my colorful Pyrex.

ASKED

(inquiring minds) why I wanted

something different,

when I had this adorable

cupboard already???

Hmmmm!

They were right, it was the perfect

size...and honestly why not?! I

already had it, why pay for

something else...

Let the transformation begin!

Yes, I had even painted fruit on it!

I was so ready for a change...

Letting go of color

and going

WHITE!

It's amazing what a coat of

WHITE paint can do!

Remember, if you don't like it,

PAINT IT!

I still have my beloved

Pyrex, it's stored away

and brought out for

summer parties

or for those times

when we just need some

COLOR!

I would love one of these lrg. buckets, (don't you just love the handles)?

We live about 30 miles from the tulip fields and these pictures

have me already dreaming of how many dozens of tulips I want,

it's always such a treat to see the glorious fields

in living color,

I'll definitely take lots of pictures to share with my blogging friends!

I bought this finial several years ago, and just today decided
to dig it out of my 'things to do' items and paint it, I looove it,
a much better fit for my cottage decor, don't ya think?

The painted version of my finial! I thinned my white paint
down, painted over about 1/3 of the finial and rubbed it
out and repeated the steps, leaving it with a worn and aged
looking patina! I think those sweet little Paperwhites are
'welcoming' the new & improved finial!

Changes in the Wind~

I've had this blog for family & friends, I usually just
post pictures of what's going on in our lives that
I like to share, but I realized I may be the only one
seeing them??? Family & friends are too busy these days to
check a blog and a lot of people prefer just gabbing
on face book, so I've decided to have this space as my blogging
spot for whomever would like to check in... I'll still post
some of my family pics here, but mostly I'll have them on
drop shots for family!

Anyway~

I have a lot of changes going on in my home too, so I
think this will be a wonderful place to share ideas, some
how to's and of course a lot of cottage finds!
