Barn Chicks

I've joined in with Karen at Brayton Homestead Interiors
for her Barn Party! I'm sure each and every one of the participants
is either a 'Barn Chick' or one at heart!
~*~

I'm sharing pictures of barns that have somehow
been a part of my life or
have touched my
heart
in some way!

~I first set eyes on this barn when I was 9 years old~
#1

~same barn~
#1
I was totally horse CrAzY!
I came here to look at my first horse...
(He really was a Shetland, Welsh mix),
Here's the thing about my first horse (okay pony),
this should be a
HUGE
red
flag
to anyone out there
thinking of buying their
child a horse or pony...
NEVER
EVER
BUY
ONE
NAMED
{CYCLONE}
he was a beautiful boy
a
little
palomino colored
STALLION
(Yeah, that was another
issue sad story), he'd buck
me off, rear up and hit me
in the head, try his darnedest
to rub me off on the porch rail
or anywhere else he could...
I so badly wanted to love him
even though he seemed to hate me.
UNTIL
the day I got my (real) horse,
then he'd whinny at me and run the fence
trying to get my attention when I was leaving
on my horse. That's when I first realized
he'd changed his mind and wanted to
be my friend, but sadly I'd moved on...

~Jennings Park Barn~
#2

I first came to this barn a little later, when my
4-H club
'Renegade Riders'
came to clean it out as a club project.
It was still a smelly old barn and we
cleaned it out and were able to
have a big Halloween party there
as payment, it was so much
fun!
Today the whole farm is utilized as
a park with many things to do for
all ages, I take my grandchildren
there to play!

# 3

This barn came into my life when I was in Jr. High,
I met Kathy at school, she'd just got
a horse and was renting a pasture and Barn
yep, this is it, but it was old and white
back then!
I have to say this barn is very close to
the school I work at. I've always
daydreamed about buying it and
living there, it has a creek that
runs below the knoll behind it!
It's being taken care of and almost
looks like it could be used as an
artist studio or something?!
~Sigh~

#4

This beautiful barn is on our route to the river where we
take our dog to swim and I hunt for heart rocks
for my collection!
I've always admired it and now after meeting Mary
the owner, (who has a business in the milk house,
to the left), I'm happy to know it's truly loved!
This next picture is on her property as well, it
must house a tractor!

~worth an honorable mention~
Looove those barn doors!

#5

This grand barn is truly beautiful, I'm not sure if it's
 new
or
old
but it's used for weddings or whatever you'd
like to rent it for!
It's just across the freeway from the
river road barn
the white fencing is beautiful
and holds the most gorgeous
draft horses I've ever
seen...

~Beautiful Farm Boys~

~This windmill was out in the middle of the horse pasture~

and

#6

lastly,
 my little garden 'barn' shed!

~*~

I hope you've enjoyed the barns that have
in some way
touched
my
~heartstrings~

Always a Barn Chick,

Sweet Cherubs

I found these two little imps this week at my
favorite thrift store.
I think they may have came out of the same home.
The cherub holding up the small bowl
says England on the bottom. They're
so darling and when I cleaned them up,
they just sparkle with sweetness!

~so sweet~

~precious wings~

~looove this~

How fun it was to find these
adorable

Everyday Living with Comfy Cottage WHITE!

Hi there,
I took some pictures around my house and your
going to see a bit of everyday life, I did move the gigantic
dog bed out of the living room, I knew I'd be tripping over
it!

~living room love seat and the door into our family room~

~closer view showing a bit of everyday wrinkles~

...and this is where I sit and enjoy my morning coffee,
usually wrapped up in that white cozy blankie folded
up in the corner!

~hide abed sofa across from the love seat,

...and this is where Mr. McGiver
has his morning coffee, with his feet up on what else, but the
coffee table.
We live in our home, we have grand kiddos around,
our big 100lb. dog & our sweet long haired cat,
we have NO shortage of
animal hair,
and
I
still
looove
white!
~*~

~our fireplace~

Now there's a HUGE project! I have a
portfolio of idea's just for this alone...
I can hardly wait for the day I can
show Y'all the finished picture!
 ~*~

~did you notice the grand kiddos little cupboard~

Around the corner is our small dining room with it's very
large table and pretty chairs...
(thrift store find)!
and you 're probably noticing that I haven't
made the slip covers for the chairs yet!
Talk about procrastinating, yep
that would be ME!

~dining room view from kitchen~

I know I've mentioned I'd share my
kitchen with you one day,
BUT,
that wouldn't be today...
it
doesn't go with
the rest of the house,
it's
 bright yellow
and
full
of
kitschy
fun
fruity
chalk ware
It's very 50's, not so
cottage-y!

Summer Lovin'

It was beautiful today, in the 80's
I'm enjoying summer now that we've
had a break from the NW rain...
A quick post of a few things I've found at the swap meet,
garage sales and even a couple of things from my yard!

This mirror is stunning, the workmanship
is fabulous!

I looove the gorgeous leaves and flower!

Interesting how it has little tabs to hold
it's little mirror in.

The stand is broken, but I'm sure I can fix it,
maybe with a piece of leather?

I found this little beauty this morning at the swap meet
Looove it!
It's very heavy, the gal I bought it from said it's
brass with gold (paint, gold leaf) over it!

I also found this sweet little
cupcake tin at the
swap meet!

I'm going to make her a rose belt,
I think it would be the
perfect accessory!

I found this gorgeous lacey slip at a
garage sale and a
lacey top at my
favorite thrift
store!
My
little
manny
never
looked
so
darling!

I'm loving how sweet the impatients look
in the window box with the
creeping jenny!

~they're not looking very impatient~

This purple climatis grows
in our front yard up
our light pole, it's
 fabulous camo!

Oh, and there's a prince
sitting
in the garden chair!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Remember These?

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating the 4th.,
it started out at a friends party on the 3rd. I wish
I had pictures to share, they had enough food for
an army and a 'Yankee Doodle Parade' for anyone
that wanted to participate and what fun it was, lots
of adults got into the festivities as well as the kiddos!
We voted and got prizes as well as the parade
participants! Thanks Jeri & Paul for such a
wonderful
party!!!
We went to the beach for the 4th.
Our Aunt Mary & Uncle Tom
have the most wonderful home
where we all congregate each
4th. of July,
at one time, I counted 48 people!
There were kids out in the boat,
babies and Mama's in the house,
and
a couple dozen or so
cozied up to the tables
visiting
and
grazing
snacking
dining
okay, it was more of a
feeding frenzy!!!
~*~
I've been practicing my
cake decorating on the family again!
(remember the cupcakes?)
~*~
When I was a little girl,
my Grandma Stella made me
the most adorable doll cakes,
you know,
where the cake was the dolls dress.
Well, I've decided to practice
so our Granddaugters will have
the same sweet cakes that I
enjoyed as a little girl!!!

Here's my first attempt.

Betsy Ross!

I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of her cut,
she was a jello cake with
blueberry
and
cherry
jello
for
the
RED
WHITE
&
BLUE!
I have a lot to learn, but I think I have
enough confidence to make
one in August, for one of our little Birthday girls!!!
